Approved packaging for perfumes: how to transport perfume products safely.

The transport of perfumery products could be complex and problematic, as for example, perfumes are a mixture of alcohol, oils and distillates of fragrant essences.

Their composition makes them dangerous goods in the transport sector: they fall into the category of flames. Our approved packaging for perfumery products improves handling, increasing safety and reducing environmental impact.

Our range of perfumes includes: 4G UN Approved Boxes, 4GV UN Approved Boxes, Labels and markings for the packages, absorbent material and emergency kits.

Overpack’s packaging is made of high quality material, maintaining a high chemical and physical resistance, ensuring that the products are protected during transport.

Multi-layer containers, consisting of different protective barriers, offer an additional level of safety. Such layers may include materials that are resistant to UV, moisture and chemicals, preventing the degradation of the content and ensuring a long shelf life.

Compliance and Adherence to Standards and Regulations

All approved Overpack containers are accompanied by UN approval certificates, which attest their compliance with the required safety standards. The use of approved packaging ensures that companies comply with international regulations, thus avoiding fines due to non-compliance.

What do we need to know before shipping our perfumery products?

To ensure that our perfume is shipped safely, we must take several aspects into account:

The packing group of class UN 1226 class 3

Before shipping our product we must know to distinguish the Packing Groups to which they belong, the perfumes in particular fall under UN 1226 class 3 classification (flammable liquids) and to and in turn are divided into two different Packing Group: PG II and PG III, where the former refer to medium-hazard substances and the latter to low-hazard substances.

Knowing how to identify the degree of danger of the goods to be shipped is a priority in order to ensure safe and legal transport.

The amount of perfumes to be carried

Another aspect not to be overlooked is the quantity of product. Depending on the type of transport and the Packing Group, the quantity of product allowed per package and per inner is different.

It is possible in many cases to transport the perfumes according to the limited quantity (LQ) provisions. For samples or reduced quantities of perfumes you can ship in Exempt Quantity (EQ). In both cases pay attention to the labelling and marking of packages as well as the completion of documents

How to choose the right cardboard packaging for our perfumes?

In order to safely ship perfumery products, you need to know the international regulations ADR, ICAO/IATA, IMDG and RID that regulate the transport of dangerous goods and provide provisions for correct packaging.

Relying on our team is the first step to averting risks. To ensure that the transport of our perfumery products is done correctly and safely, the cardboard boxes containing the products must be approved 4G and 4GV, if we decide instead of sending the goods with plywood crates, they must be approved 4D and 4DV.

The inside of the package should then be filled with vermiculite, an absorbent material that prevents the spillage of dangerous liquids. Finally, the neck must be labelled and marked in accordance with current legislation.
